Visual stories from open data, one dataset at a time

A Data Story is an independent newsletter about the numbers behind everyday life. Each issue starts from a public dataset, such as a government statistics table, a research archive or an open data portal, and turns it into one interactive visual story you can explore.

How each issue is made

• Every number comes from a named source table, linked at the end of the story.
• We only use data whose licence allows reuse, and we credit it the way the licence asks.
• When we add context, such as the date a policy started, we check it against a primary source and link to it.
• Charts show what the data says. When a pattern lines up with an event, we say that and stop there. Timing isn't proof of cause.

Corrections

If you spot a mistake, email hello@adatastory.com. We fix errors and add a note at the end of the story saying what changed.
